For the tenth iteration of the Ekko Festival of Electronic Music a major factor in the design process was to counter the previous year’s profile, which was quite stark and monochrome, with something vibrant, colourful, and bold.
An intense period of experimentation across many different mediums lead to a series of organic ink-splotches, that then was brought into the digital realm and treated as abstract motives. The shapes were cut, pasted and mirrored, finally creating a juicy framework for the overall profile.
As with previous years the aim was to create something that would (hopefully) outlive the festival itself, therefore a double-sided printing plate was used to let the illustrations breathe as separate compositions (and hopefully hang on someone’s walls).
